Built in the mid-19th century for a wealthy Bordeaux merchant, this "little" chateau captures the elegance and style of the great French chateaux whilst remaining within a very human scale.

The six bedrooms are distributed all around the house, with the octagonal master bedroom in the main turret, three others on the stair-gated first floor, a fifth tucked away around a corner and down some stairs, and the sixth in the children's area on the ground floor.

There is ample shaded parking to the front of the property, whilst the rear terrace overlooks the pool and stunning views across open countryside, vineyards and orchards towards the bastide town of Villefranche de Lonchat and the ruins of the 13th century English fort at the Lac de Gurson.

The chateau is on the edge of the small village of Montazeau. The village restaurant and bar "La Péché Mignon" is 200 metres away and the village also offers tennis courts. The local wine chateau offers free tastings and is on the Wine Route. The Parc d'Animalier is about a mile away, and the facilities of St Méard de Gurçon are just four miles away
