If you appreciate a quiet rural setting, away from the hustle & bustle, then you will enjoy your stay at Picot, just 3km from St. Méard de Gurçon. Picot is set in peaceful countryside, surrounded by vineyards, woodland and rolling meadows. The road ends here, so there is no passing traffic, except to the farm next door, where our very friendly neighbours own the surrounding vineyards. The gite where you will be staying is the original farmhouse, which has been restored to a high standard. The old barns adjoining the farmhouse have also been converted, and this is where we live. There is a small barn separating the two properties and they face in different directions, so you have complete privacy. The gite has its own garden, with table, chairs & parasol for alfresco meals, and a barbecue.

The large 10 x 6 metre swimming pool is shared with us, but we are generally busy and time our use around our visitors. The pool has a depth of one metre at the shallow end and then slopes to 2 metres at the deep end, so it can be enjoyed by small children and non-swimmers as well as the more experienced. There are Roman steps for easy access, or where you can just sit and cool off. A tile-roofed gazebo by the pool, with chairs and sun-loungers, provides welcome shade from the sun. The pool is fenced, with a security gate, for child safety, and has a pool alarm fitted meeting French government regulations..

In principle, bookings are from Saturday to Saturday, although we can be flexible

A £200 deposit is required to secure the booking, with the balance to be paid at least eight weeks in advance of your holiday date when there is also a £200 security deposit due.

This is to cover any damage or loss and is refunded in full within a week of your departure if everything is in order. Once we receive your booking deposit, we will send you a final invoice with your latest payment date.
