Cars - To enjoy St Méard and the surrounding area you really do require some sort of transport - a car is highly recommended. There are no buses and the rail services from Ste. Foy la Grande and Montpon tend to be grouped around peak hours only.

Bikes - If you're fit the rolling hills and winding lanes are excellent for cycling - if like me you're not quite as fit as you'd like to be then the flat valley floor around the River Dordogne is slightly less strenuous and more managable! Alternatively get something on two wheels with an engine and take full advantage of the climate and empty roads...

Taxis - However if you're planning a week by the pool and a walk to the boulangerie every morning and restaurant every evening, it's just possible to get by with a taxi ride from the Airport...

"SARL Apolo" is based in Bergerac and hire cars, motorcycles and bikes at very competitive rates - UCar is their car hire division. Husband and wife team Jean-Paul and Sophie will bend over backwards to help you and everyone there speaks excellent English. They have a reception at Bergerac Airport and main offices in the town a couple of minutes walk from the station.
