The Village Shops in St. Méard de Gurçon

Boulangerie Au Vieux Four - The bakery run by Florence makes excellent bread and pastries in the old traditional oven you'll see at the back of the shop. Open mornings and evenings, a visit is essential!Florence

Opening Hours: 0700-1300, 1630-2000 (closed Thursdays)

Epicerie/Buvette - Veronique's shop sells a bit of almost everything, our general store is also a 'buvette'. This means that after you've bought your bread, cheese, milk, vegetables, meat, paté, bottle of pastis and tin of beans you can sit down to a beer, glass of wine or coffee on the terrasse or at the table at the back of the shop.!Veronique

Opening Hours: 0700-1300 1430-2000.
Closed Wednesdays and Sunday afternoons.

Coiffure Evelyn - If during your stay you feel the sudden need for a haircut then Evelyn's your woman! Go home with a tan and a bit of French styling. Although she doesn't speak English, Evelyn's very friendly and welcoming, and a recent Australian visitor managed to communicate his needs and lived to tell the tale...

Garage/Tabac - The little petrol station doubles up as a newsagent and tabacconist. They sell postcards, plants, little presents and usually have a few foreign newspapers for sale. I've even spotted the Radio Times lurking on the top shelf...

The other bakery - If Florence is shut or you fancy a change we have a second boulangerie just around the corner. Currently awaiting a new sign by the looks of it, this one opens mornings only. As with so many places around here you'll always get a very warm welcome and a high standard of baking. This is also the place to come for large cakes to celebrate... - well, to celebrate whatever you fancy!

St Méard Auto - Monsieur Gonzalez runs the local car repair garage just about single-handedly. He may talk fast and use technical terms, but he does an excellent job and his rates are about a third of what you'd pay in the UK for a mechanic. So if you're having car trouble on holiday, pop round - the garage is just outside the village on the road towards Villefrance de Longchat - and prepare to wave your hands around and do a lot of pointing!

Note: Cash or cheques only, no cards accepted
