Florence
will
give you a warm welcome - and if you're up early enough some warm
bread fresh from the oven! She opens every morning and evening except
Thursdays and sells bread, croissants, pastries and even the odd
pizza! You can buy local wine here, and often there's a little table
set at the front of the shop with fresh oysters on Sunday mornings.
Opening Hours: 0700-1300, 1630-2000
(closed Thursdays)
| Traditional
brick oven... |
|
The
traditional brick oven is wide and deep, yet only a few inches high.
The master-baker uses paddles on very long poles to push batches
of bread into the oven, where the high temperature and close proximity
of the bricks gives and extra-crisp crunch to the crusts, plus a
certain je ne sais quoi you just don't get elsewhere.

The
picture to the right looks inside the oven - even a few hours after
baking finished it was still very hot! All of this takes place at
the rear of the shop in full view of the customers.
